Lots to do challenge - White

These are my entries for this weeks Lots to do challenge which this week is white.

One of the most amazing things I have ever watched in live theatre is "Phantom of the Opera" I think I fell in love with the Phantom , the man, his voice, and all of the passion within the character.
The dvd and also cd is often on in my house and the character I adore most of all is the one played by Gerard Butler. So this first atc I edged white card with black soot Distress ink so that i could get a slightly smudged finish.

I then rubber stamped with the black soot onto handmade paper which i frayed at the edges to try and achieve the worn look. Added the words, "imagine" "dream " and "desire" all of which remind me of the Phantom. I edged the wording with black soot and added the image of the mask.

My second atc was rubber stamped again with black soot but this time directly onto white bazzil which has a slight linen finish to it. It gave a sharper image , I added the words "memories" "unique" and "charm" and then added an image of Elvis.....I say no more.

My last piece is a Scrapbook page which is from the Memory book I made for my daughter when her dad died. It is an all white page with black and white images , the only colour on the page was some tiny little pink feet, and a couple of embellishments. The chrome "Daddy" I thought gave a nice finishing touch.

Thanks for stopping by my blog.

Zettiology Legs for Artist Trading Club

After many months of being engrossed in Scrapbooking , I decided my New Years Resolution was to get back to blogging and back to making atc's and joining in challenges etc.

Over at The Artists Trading Club Chriss has a guest Designer Hermine from the Netherlands. Hermine creates some amazing pieces and I am very lucky to have some of her work in my collection. Pop over to Hermines Blog Here and have a look for yourself.
This month at The Artist Trading Club the theme is Zettiology.

I made the above atc's with a set of Teesha Moore's Zettiology arms and legs stamp set. You can find Teesha's blog here her journals are fantastic, and her use of colour amazing.

I feel a little rusty with these atc's but im sure i will get back into the swing of things very soon, as we all know how addictive they can be.

I used inks to colour the blank atc , stamped the Zettiology legs onto velum so that I could move them around till I was happy with my design ( stuck in Scrapbooking mode you see LOL) then added the German Scrap and the barbed wire stamp and quotes etc.

Im pleased with them considering it must be about 6 months since I made any and at first I felt as though I was never going to be able to place them in a way I would be happy with.

Thanks alot for stopping by my blog, and I look forward to joining in more challenges etc as the weeks go by .

My Evanescence Canvas

After being introduced, to some fab tracks on the Evanescence Album Fallen from a very good friend I found some of the images used were quite interesting and got the idea to make this canvas with those in mind.

Firstly I covered the whole of the canvas with tissue paper and pva, to help give it texture.

Then I covered a chipboard heart with tissue also.

Next glued on some sequin waste.

And trimmed when dry.

I used ordinary kitchen foil and rolled it into strips , which were actually quite strong.

I then glued the strips of foil to the outside of the chipboard heart creating an edge all around.

I laid the heart face down on new kitchen foil and folded it around the shape of the heart only putting glue at the back to hold down the edges.

Press the foil to the front on the heart allowing the sequin waste to create a textured look on the heart.

Dab acrylic paint onto the heart to cover with colour.

Paint an additional chipboard heart frame, this time i used gold paint to contrast with the purple.

By now the first coat of purple was dry so I added more acrylic, using dark purple , black , and just a touch of jade green around the rim of the heart adding alot of paint to get a rich dark colour.

Next I embossed kitchen foil in the cuttlebug and glued it to the canvas , very lightly so as not to lose the embossing. I found that the tissue which I had originally covered the canvas with helped to keep the shape of the embossing by stopping it from adhereing flat to the canvas.

I carefully painted the foil so as not to flatten the embossing.

I used some angelina fibres in similar colours after using a heart shaped rubber stamp keeping the theme of hearts.

I added the Evanescence image of a woman passing through an open door from a dark room into the light behind the gold chipboard frame.

When the acrylic was dry it hardened slightly and i added final touches of jade green and black to finish off the canvas.

I attached the hearts and the angelina fibres.

Then finished it of with grungeboard swirls and a key painted with the jade green acrylic.

My aim was to create a dark piece , which I feel I have done, I am pleased with the finished result and enjoyed making it very much.

So thank you to my friend for being the inspiration behind this canvas which reminds me of being in a dark place but allowing imagination to bring me out into the light.
You know who you are x

Thank you for stopping by and I hope you return again .

This is brilliant , i love it !
