ABAA - Altered Cutlery

This is my entry for this weeks challenge at ABAA, which this week is altered cutlery.

Still being 10 feet tall after seeing David Essex on Saturday, (see earlier post) Ive designed my altered cutlery with him in mind.

My quote says "Stirring up old memories" which was exactly what he managed to do on saturday.

I used an old mixing spoon that had some damage to it so I didnt like using it any longer for baking.

I used alcohol inks to colour the spoon before added some lovely images of David and some of the titles of his songs.

An old street lamp stamp made an ideal compliment for the song title "Lamplight".

I used a music note punch and some stickles to add a little sparkle and added a couple of stars for "Stardust".

I am over the moon with my spoon, thanks for stopping by my blog.

Lots to do challenge - Box Frames

This is my entry for this weeks Lots to do Challenge which is Boxes.

I did these Box frame pictures of my grandchildren a while ago.
My grandaughter Emily, and Grandson Joe.

They were frames I was given for my birthday and basically I put layouts in them. The good thing is they will be easy to update as the children get older.

Thanks for visiting my blog.

Giveaway, Check this out

Kirsten at Retro Cafe has an amazing Giveaway, pop over now and check out the details.
This is not to be missed, the prize is super .......

Bring me back down to earth...........

Well.....He may be a little older.....He may have grey hair these days......but believe me....David Essex still has what it takes to hold the audience in the palm of his hand.
Yesterday I took my daughter to the theatre to see "All the fun of the fair" a musical starring David Essex amongst many other good performers.
It was an amazing show that was worth every penny.
The show contained alot of his previous hits which sounded just as good as years ago, and he left the audience wanting more.
My daughter came home well and truly hooked, with a stage full of young performers she came home totally besotted with David Essex.
If you get the chance to go and see this show, dont miss it , you wont be dissapointed. Its the best Saturday afternoon ive spent in a long time.

A huge Thank you to David and the rest of the cast to a performance well done.

ABAA - Birdhouse

This is my entry for the ABAA which this week was birdhouses.

Im so sorry im late again, I made my birdhouse from a block of wood. Roofs are not my strong point as anyone will remember who has been following my blog for a while.
I always struggle with them. Anyway, I decided that I would make my birdhouse look as though it was in the trunk of a tree.

I covered the block with gesso, then put card on 3 sides. Using snowtex i created the look of bark adding brown and green paint.
I added a little black circle to look as though there was a bird entrance in the tree.

Next i covered the opposite side with papers, and made a nest with raffia and feathers adding eggs and stamped birds.
Lastly I added a couple of woodland nymphs to the bark of the tree.

Im pleased with it and it will be getting a new home in my mams conservatory.

Thanks for stopping by my blog.

ABAA - Newspaper

This is my entry for ABAA this week which is to use a piece of newspaper.

I have included 2 pieces, the first is a Thank you card, using some black card i embossed it with a cuttlebug embossing folder , putting the word thanks all over it, and added it to the front of a white card. I then added a flower cut from newsprint and a couple of butterflys. When making the butterflys i used 2 for each, gluing one on top of the other an bending the wings of the top one up over to add depth.

The second piece is from a post dated back to 15th January 2009.
My uncle Tom used to draw The Broons and Oor Wullie years ago before he died so back in January when making things with newsprint I made this Broons House to remind me of him. If you visit the original post you can read the full story.

My family have rallied round and I have a great little collection which will fill more than one album.

These are the first few pages I have done, just to show you Im not awol only doing 2 challenges each week......this is what im up too.

Lots to do challenge - Mask It

These are my entries for the Lots to do Challenge this week which is Mask It.

I love working with Masks and have bought a few lately. I made this birthday card for my friend using one of the Tim Holtz masks - Flourishes, I love these at the moment. I used distress ink and used the mask over the top of the patturned paper. I was pleased with the result and so was my friend.

The 2nd example is one of the layouts from the vintage scrapbook i am working on at the moment. Again its a Tim Holtz mask this time the clocks. Again I used distress inks.
This picture is of my dad, his brother and his friend after the war.
I am very lucky to have really good photographs of my family , dating back to the 1800's and I have decided to put them in a vintage scrapbook, although there are hundreds of photographs I think it may end up being a series of albums.

I am also a member of Scrapaholics
and our next class will be using some of Heidi Swapps masks , I cant wait for that. You can see a video of Heidi doing a mask demonstration here.

Thanks for visiting my blog , have a great weekend.

ABAA -Bookmark

This is my entry for ABAA which this week is bookmarks.

I used my favourite colour purple. The camera doesnt seem to be picking up the centre colour which is a peachy lilac , which turned out lovely as i was only mixing inks. I stamped on my handsome man.... then continued to layer the card with various shades of purple till I had the right thickness.

I added the fibres and then stamped on the quote, which was when I got cross with myself.....I should have done that first as I didnt get it quite straight, so it looks a bit odd. Maybe people will be too busy looking at the man to notice, hehehe.

Alter it

This is my entry for ABAA alter a blank and also The Lots to do Challenge alter it.

I chose a blank bottle box, the smallest of a set of 3. I used 4 different distress inks to ink the box , then used the Tim Holtz clock masks and used a dark distress ink to stencil the clocks and cogs.
I stamped Mona and Frida onto velum and then added them to the box so that the clock and cog images showed through the velum to give it a layered effect.

Then i added the quote, "Time waits for no man" on the side. ( I should have used men stamps and not women)

Im not sure what at all I will use it for but im sure it will come in for something.

Thanks for visiting my blog.

This is brilliant , i love it !
