Lots to do - Distressed tag
This is my entry for this weeks challenge at Lots to do which this week is distressed tags.
Ive had this photo for a while and ive been dying to use it but it never seemed to fit in with any theme I was working on.
The image is that of three youngsters , children of the Hardy family, who were on my Dads side of the family. Im not sure of their names unfortunatly , and Im not sure from which leg of the Hardy family they came from. However on the side of the image was a small EH next to the boy on the girls left, and Eddie Hardy was a family name that was passed from generation to generation.
The picture reminds me of the Catherine Cookson films, the children are dressed very similar to the costumes that were used in those films.
The Hardy family lived in Jarrow, again where alot of the Catherine Cookson films were based.
As mining played a huge part of peoples lives then, I wanted to use black and greys for this page, I wanted to make the paper look like soot had been smudged on it so Ive tried to distress my tag in a similar style so that it blended with the paper.
I used black soot distress ink to stamp the tag with various patturns and script etc, and used some rub ons to write the word Hardy down the edge of the tag.
All in all Im pleased with my page and I like the way the photos sits on it, I think it matches in quite well.
Thanks for stopping by my blog , its much appriciated. Have a lovely weekend.
