A BIG THANK YOU

I would just like to say a big thank you to Bob, Karen, Denise, Practical Publishing Annette, and Veronica who have all sent cards for Daniels Trust. They are all lovely , and I have been lucky enough to have the offer of a swivel card stand to display them on at the coffee day, from Boldon Picture Framing.
I will keep you all updated and I will take phototgraphs on the day and post them on here, Thanks again, Jaqi

Latest efforts

A bit dissapointed this weekend, after I managed to do my recycled atc, I just seemed to be struggling to get them right. Nothing seemed to go according to plan. I had alot of ideas which just didnt seem to turn out the way I wanted them too.
I suppose there will be times like this ......its just very frustrating. Nevermind, onwards and upwards!

Faulty Rub -ons

I had to put this little man inside a slide mount! It was originally a rub on, that wouldnt rub on! Ive asked a few of you but if anyone has any tips about what to do if they wont rub on. I think im just going to have to put up with it and come up with alternative ways to attach them, its a shame as they were lovely images.

The Mermaid's Tail

I adore this atc, it took me ages to adhere these little gems onto her tail. Its my new favourite.I love the colours in the angelina fibres , I tried to make it look as tho it was deep in the ocean, I would like to do more with variations on the colours and maybe textures

Jigsaw

Just a simple atc, but I love the colours and the quote!

Flower Fairies

While sorting out in my sewing box I came across some Flower Fairy scraps that I once used in Hannahs bedroom when she was young. She had a huge fire surround but the fire had long since been blocked up. So where the fire was , it was just bare plaster. I got my dad to cut me a peice of plywood and i painted it matt black. I then sat for nights on end cutting out all these little flower fairies and pasting them onto the board to make a collage. When finished I varnished it to seal it and we popped it into place, from a distance it just looked like a very colourful board until you got up close and then you could see all the tiny little fairies. Hannah was just young at the time and she used to sit for ages and look at them all, there must have been hundreds of them on it. I kept what i had left in a packet, so no doubt you will now see the odd one on an atc.

Ladies , Please!

I couldnt resist these ladies, they are so elegant, and I tried the black embossing on two of them and I love it. I really enjoyed making these ones.

Two trials

Just experimenting , I made these two so that I could practice embossing. I havent done any before and noticed that alot of you were producing some lovely samples of work using embossing. I need to practise but Im getting the hang of it.

Wishing on a star

I used this stamp before but this time Ive cut it out and put it on a background

Cups, Pots, and Urns

I was hunting around yesterday in my sewing box where I store all my tapestry stuff and found a packet of samples of wallpapers and borders that I sent for when I lived in my old house. It was a 3 storey house and we tried to take everything back to the original features. It was a long task and unfortunatly we didnt get to finish it before my husband and I divorced. I have kept these samples for years, why I dont know. So Ive decided to start cutting them up and using them with my craft stuff. Gives a slightly different approach and its recycling my samples.

Finally Ive decided on my awards!

As Im new to this and havent been doing it very long, I had to take some time to think about this, so here are my chosen 5.
Here are the rules regarding this special award:
1. You pick five blogs that you consider deserve this award for their creativity, design, interesting material, and also contribution to the blogging community, no matter what language.
2. Each award has to have the name of the author and also a link to his or her blog to be visited by everyone.
3. Each award winner has to show the award and put the name and the link to the blog that has given her or him the award itself.
4. The award-winners and the one who has given the prize have to show the link of Arte y Pico blog, so everyone will know the origin of this award.

The first person I chose was,
Chriss Rollins...Chriss has been an amazing help and was the first person to visit my blog and checks it out regularly. Chriss encouraged me to join in initially, and has supported all that I have done, and answered all my many questions. Thank you Chriss for all your support. http://chriss-rollins.blogspot.com/
The second is,
Linda Vincent... Linda has been a great new friend , very supportive and has showed an interest in what I was doing, I love your work. Thank you Linda for all your support.http://lindavincent.blogspot.com/
The third is,
Rosie Radcliffe...Rosie was the first person to ask me to trade, her work is great, I love her style and she has inspired me to try harder . Thank you Rosie for all your support.http://atcexchange.blogspot.com/
The fourth is,
Tina (Sakazoke)...Tina is a true inspiration, I adore her work and have a goal to work towards thanks to her. Thank you Tina for your support.http://sakazoke.blogspot.com/2008/03/happy-easter-weeknd.html
And the fifth is,
Chris Rowe, Chris also gave me alot of support in the beginning and when I entered her Love Challenge she encouraged me to enter a few peices of work, and gave me the confidence to do so. Thank you Chris for your support.http://craftsbychrissy.blogspot.com/

Thank you for all being patient and waiting for me to decide who I was passing this onto. Also a big Thank you to everyone else, I just wish I could have passed it on to you all. Cheers Jaqi

Daisy Sizzix Die

I love this daisy die cutter, I bought it because the advert showed a wedding cake covered with these beautiful daisys that looked like real flowers, although these colours are darker, made from layers of handmade paper and using pearl beads or brads in the centre you are able to create a great look. I would recommend this cutter to anyone, it makes a great addition to any collection.

Sunday Morning Atc's

Managed to get these 2 done this morning while my daughter very kindly cooked Sunday lunch for me. She made a full roast chicken Dinner and then apple crumble and Custard. It was lovely she did a great job, then she washed and dried all the dishes and made a batch of chocolate brownies to take to her grans for tea. Thanks to her Ive had a Sunday off, and its been lovely, Thank you Hannah, you did an excellent job x (can I just add she is only 14years old)

We flew away in a teacup!

I love this saying 'We flew away in a teacup', this picture is another designed by a child. What a lovely thought to be able to just do that!
How can you really measure a students increased self - confidence, their higher self - esteem and that they have a renewed interest in learning. When he was evaluating a project one student said "It made my school feel alive" Another during the second day said " This is how education should be, isnt it , Miss?"
(Quotes from ICT Co ordinator , Brannel School, Cornwall on the CP project 'Watch this Space')

Creative Partnerships

I work for Creative Partnerships which is a government funded research programme. These atc's are made with a set of postcards that were designed using some images that children had created.
Creative Partnerships has given schools, pupils, teachers and parents the confidence to think bigbut most of all trust in our own and in our childrens creativity.

A Little Irish Luck For Everyone

Arte y pico Award

I have just been given this award from Linda Vincent, I am speechless, and like Linda, I will need to think about my acceptance speech and get back to you. I have only been doing this for just over a week and its all quite new. Thank you Linda, It was very kind of you. x

Giggles

This photo has'nt taken very well, for some reason sometimes the camera wont take a clear image this close up....The caption reads ' May the memories we make record the life that we live' It's such a cute baby, you just want to pick her up, right off the page. Its a pity about the camera (maybe its a male camera, and thats why its awkward!)

Vivid Inks

I used Vivid Inks to colour these atc's before adding the embellishments. I love these colours. Purple being my favourite of all time.

Very Serious

I love these old images, dont the women look so serious? I am always amazed that in most old pictures no one smiles! They always look so stern, Why I wonder, I would love to see an old picture with everyone laughing and having a real good time. So whilst looking though my captions I found this 'Uncontrollable Laughter' I knew it was perfect for this picture. Although the lady in the middle is showing a little bit of a cheeky smile!

This is brilliant , i love it !
